Description of Augustus ECR: El Coyote Ranch has always been one of our very favorite breeding programs, and we are very thankful to them for selling us this tremendous young bull! His flashy deep cherry red color, muscular body, pretty head, and future 90" dam made him our top choice when looking for a replacement bull for Awesome Alamo. We leased Augustus last year, and 13 of the 14 calves we got out of him appear to have been conceived in the first month, with the last one not far behind. Those are great results on heifers, showing the type of strong fertility we look for in our bulls! His dam is one of El Coyote's top cows, both in terms of horn length and production. She measured 80 1/8" ttt and 97 3/4" total horn at five-and-a-half years. His sire Expeditious ECR is a very tall bull that measures in the 70's. Genetically, Augustus combines legendary females Tari Graves and Delta Vixen with several of the best bulls to come out of the tremendous El Coyote program including El Presidente, Don Julio, and Julio Vixen.We expect Augustus to raise flashy calves with show quality conformation and a lot of horn at maturity. Unfortunately Augustus injured his ankle on Christmas Eve of 2015. While he has shown improvement over the last six months, we are not optimistic that he will be able to breed again. Luckily he has produced a number of very nice sons that are already continuing his legacy in other herds.
